Yes you can have some tender muscles with normal creatin kinase levels, but this has been shown to be benign, with only the discomfort as adverse effect.
As for the CoQ10/ubiquinone issue, there was a study done on rats to see if statin related myopathy was in fact caused by a lack of CoQ10/ubiquinone. They used the banned drug cerivastatin which is the statin with the highest frequency of myopathy problems. It couldn't show a relationship. Of course this doesn't rule out that such a relationship exists, but it does make it less likely.
