I have found them helpful in light fog, in heavy fog I have found that they are good when the low beams are off. I use the fog lights the most though when I am driving at night on two lane highways, it helps me to see off to the side of the road to avoid deer and other animals. They also help me a great deal in heavy rain at night, the lines on the roads are much easier to see. I've also found them very helpful at dusk where there is not enough light to see with out head lights but the head lights don't quite give off enough light to see by themselfs. Mine are aftermarkt hellas which I've put on my 76 99 ems. I have bosch ones on my 79 900t. I used them more for added light rather than fog though which is why I find them so helpful.
