-The light WILL turn green again, no need to punch the engine at yellow lights.
-Letting the guy cut in front of you is not going to make you late for your destination.
-Keep interior distractions to a minimum: coffee, phone, accumulated junk.
-Treat the car well and it will return the favor: don't brake over potholes, don't brake at the last possible moment to come to stop, shift smoothly-don't ride the clutch, blip throttle for downshifts-don't lug the engine on hills.
-Be aware of the overall condition of car: see any leaks? tire a little low on air? exhaust sound a little louder than yesterday?
-And most important: Get familiar with routine maintenance-no reason for anybody to have to rely on somebody else for things like oil changes. Every time you complete some form of maintenance, you will become more familiar with your car and more aware of potential problems.
good luck,
Kevin L.
