Nick, I think there is one of those on 90 right near where it meets 495 too!!! I was driving to NH last weekend, and I swear, Everyone slowed down 5-10 mph when they hit those notorious ol' interstate twisties. Frickin Mass drivers - I'll take the good old Albany-bahn any day... ;)
And IMHO, downshifting is solely for boosting into the red when coming out of a corner; using the brakes is for slowing down in the remaining 95% (ok, maybe 85%) of your time behind the wheel. Downshifting is just not as precise a method of controlling your speed as the power assisted 4-wheel discs.
