To the consumer that is. I am sure there is going to be a period of growing pains. On an aside, there is a local suburb here who is complaining that they have a budget shortfall in their police department because of high fuel costs; the kicker is that their entire department drives GMC Yukons. Why in the world would a suburban police department have to be entirely outfitted with these gas guzzling beasts is beyond me.
Keep in mind that I am not only talking about gasoline or diesel fuels. I also think that a large part of this problem is political, but I do concede that it is rooted in both sides of the aisle.
It just seems to me that their close-knit brothers in other industries would be urging them to relax their profits in order to avoid an economic melt-down. This is what I was refering to when I asked if they are "islands".
I guess this is what you get when your only concern is your shareholders.
