GM is a corporation which exists to make profit. Somebody in marketing has analyzed the pricing for sure, sales at various price-points versus profit for such a low volume limited edition model. At this price-point, 600 will sell easily, probably to people that have more money than us.
Product-wise, lots is standard compared to the competition as Jon mentioned. Plus, which other vehicle can start you off in RWD and then shift to predominantly FWD to get the best of both worlds? The performance is worth the price relative to other competitors too.
