Hmmm--interesting comparison, but, c'mon, you can't decide what car is better based off of torque/$. I mean, you're not driving an old v8 camaro, are you?
If one eschews the black label, it looks as if a 9-3 v6 AWD will come in right around 40K. Pretty close to a 335i with broadly similar options. The 335i will drive better and the engine's a little more responsive/powerful/efficient.
The saab has the edge in better available AWD system, and the fact that you can get a powerful wagon! BMW doesn't offer hot wagons here in the us, and their wagon premium is higher than saab's ( $2000 ).
What would kill me is if the v6 XWD gets atrocious fuel economy. I'm used to getting over 30mpg highway and nearly 20 in town in my 328i. And i drive a lot. But i can't toss my bike, tent, and telescope in the back of the bimmer...
