Well, I do have a beef with Saab.. not gonna lie there. Bought my Viggen new in 2000: would of got a '99 but they didn't have 5 doors yet. Love it. It's a great car (also note it was $8k less than the bmw 330 at the time). But it's aged and I waited and waited for a replacement. I got excited over this new xwd system. I knew they signed a contract with Haldex years ago as they were finishing up the NG900 runs and moving to a new platform. Still nothing came out. And I waited, more years passed... Then there rumors of a high performance Saab being tested.. a black turbo and awd!

AWD is exciting because Saab has maintained for years that they couldn't break into the 300hp range due to fwd and steering. The new 9-3 chassis is much more rigid than my Viggen and handles better.. I see they even have a lsd rear end. It's even been rumored the V6 turbo has been detuned so it doesn't surpass the 2.25l in the upscale 9-5. It all leads up to some real potential.

Then they release this Black edition... It's a slightly warmed over '08 9-3 Aero at a substantial cost increase. It has the usual "special edition" stickers, suspension, and wheels, but no major "toys"... It's not the Viggen replacement I've waited and waited for. It seems like it could of been much more. They finally had a platform worthy of some real power... and they give it a tune-up and some badging. It's a major let down to me...
