Nobody has mentioned offloading Opel/Vauxhall, which has to frequently haemorrhage more in a month than SAAB loses in a typical year. Even GM seems to be oblivious to this. Sell, give away or pay somebody to take SAAB/Opel/Saturn, shut Hummer, radically rationalize US operations - Chevy for basic value cars & small trucks, GMC for larger trucks & SUVs, Cadillac for something nice, shut Buick. It's not 1955 any more. The business model of sell a kid a Chevy, have him upgrade to a Pontiac in a few years, then a Buick when he hits middle age, before finally settling into a Caddy when he becomes a fatcat is dead. Long dead. GM doesn't realize that yet. They had a great opportunity to position themselves for this downturn by preparing SAAB and Saturn to be ready to accept the hordes of buyers who wanted away from SUVs, but their heads were so far up their asses they missed it completely. Now it's too late. They deserve to go bankrupt, and the assbag unions who have herded them to this point deserve to lose as much as they do. Honda/Toyota etc build better cars in America using American workers. Now, I wonder why?
