Ford, for all it's faults, is the least reprehensible of the Three Stooges. As the author notes, they generally have the least bad financial health, the least bad product pipeline, and have taken the most proactive steps earliest to straighten itself out. (Bill Ford fired himself as boss, because he accepted someone would do the job better than he was doing it. I know the board would have fired him anyway, but still, he at least had the gumption to own up and do the right thing.) As far as I'm concerned, GM and Chrysler deserve to go broke, and the assbags who run them, along with the boneheads in the UAW and the idiots who bought or continued to hold stock any any of these companies over the last eight years all deserve whatever financial hits they take. Ford probably deserves to survive, as much by default as anything else, but at least they're maybe not as worthless as the other two. For the love of God, while the SUV market was clearly saturated, Chrysler, who had probably the two most iconic SUVs (Wrangler and Cherokee), went and added Liberty, Compass, Commander and Patriot (WTF???), created a new Durango, and possibly some others that I don't remember. Of course, Daimler-Benz lost their shirts on that deal already... Ford lost a billion dollars on Kwik-Fit, the UK's equivalent of Midas. Maybe they should have had Lennox Lewis or Frank Bruno as their pitchman... I have no idea of the academic credentials of the people running Detroit, but I suspect they thought "B-school" meant being unable to be an A-student.
