If GM closes Saab I will be extremely angry with them. I have been incredibly disappointed with the way they have handled the brand. As far back as I can remember Saab has been the small car brand with an extremely loyal following with people being loyal because the cars are UNIQUE. Then you go buy a $42,000 9-5 and find a CHEVY MALIBU HEAD UNIT IN THE DASH!! WTF???!!! I know, I know, they've done SOME good stuff for the brand, but it would have been SO EASY for them to go the extra mile, do a little research, and find out what the brands' followers want. We sure as hell don't want a Chevy Trailblazer or Subaru Impreza rebadged as a Saab! Now that's unique!! I hope and pray someone buys the brand, as long as it's not China or India. I can see it now, "Oh you have a Saab? ...Yep... Aren't those made in China?" Uggggh. I'd be extremely excited if someone like VW or BMW bought it and started pumping some quality into the cars, but I highly doubt that will ever happen. I know the Swedish government doesn't want the brand to go under, and has offered to help GM, but they've also said they cannot afford to, and do not want to buy it outright. It will be interesting to see what happens, and hope something good comes out of it.
From what I know that's going on with GM (which just scratches the top), I hope they go bankrupt and can break the contracts they have with all the UAW people. It is outrageous that they pay some uneducated person to do the same little job over and over all the day on an assembly line more money than most college-educated Americans. Plus all the benefits they get; bull-twinkie.
