then they wouldn't sell millions every year. Your statement reminds me of the expression, "they don't make cars people want to buy". If that were true, the Detroit 3 would have about 1% market share. Sure, their vehicles aren't as popular as they used to be, but as an example, GM has for many recent years sold more mid-sized cars than any other manufacturer in the U.S. This is spun by the press that their cars aren't popular because the volume is spread out over many models instead of one or two, like Accord and Camry/Avalon.
I drove my brother's 2009 Chevy Malibu LTZ with the 2.4 L 4 cylinder engine and 6 spd automatic and in many ways, its refinement surpasses that of my 2008 Saaab 9-3 and many other import vehicles I've driven. The powertrain isolation, overall quietness, shift quality and ride solidness are amazing. Drive one and you'll see.
