The point of my post is that the desire of Americans for large vehicles is not the reason for the decline of the big 3.
I think that any quality gap that existed between American cars and the Japanese cars in particular is largely a thing of the past. There are some really good American made cars...Ford Fusion and Flex to name a couple.
And obviously, American cars (especially pickup and SUVs) do appeal to a large number of people. However, the loss of market share had been gigantic and continues to grow. Other companies have simply done a better job in building cars that appeal to the American public. That being said, the next car i buy will probably be American, a Ford Flex and I hope the big three turn things around....thanks.
