I said that in my post. And our engines can adapt to different levels of octane. I understand that, too.
What I want someone to explain is TML's claim that lower grade gas has more energy per volume. In his post, TML said, "Driving the same speeds with the lower octane gas will give better fuel economy because it has higher energy per volume." This does not make sense, but then I'm not an engineer.
Others have made this claim, too, and I'd like to know why (or if) this is so.
