Some things occur to me after reading the article:
1. The only incident actually mentioned was the fatal crash of the Lexus LS350. One incident does not a condition make....although the whole thing appears to have been investigated enough to come up with a fix. Sounds like aftermarket floor mats may be the cause.
2. I guess I can visualize how "pedal interference" type of things can happen. With the SAAB rubber mats stacked on top of the "carpet" SAAB mats in our 9-5, the rubber mat has to be pulled back far enough, or the clutch won't go in far enough to disengage the starter interlock.
3. After reading about the crash of the Lexus LS350 and the 911 call that resulted during the incident, I turned to my wife and said, "If the SAAB started running away like this, what would you do? She immediately said "Turn off the ignition." Yeah, me, too. Interesting.
