you apparently have to hold the button down to kill the engine while the car is in gear. This is probably to prevent a little kid from just pushing it and killing the engine. I assume all the push-to-start cars work this way.
I saw one news report where Toyota was planning on issuing a notice to owners of push button ignition cars and possibly having a sticker to put on the dash. Seems like butt-covering to me. It does specify the 3-4 second hold in the owner's manual (which of course everyone reads and memorizes. LOL.)
The press to start feature is cool, but is one of those gee-whiz things that are really pretty useless--technology because it can be done. I've driven cars with it and it's fine, but silly IMHO.
