It would be interesting try a couple things in one of those cars.
Consider that Saab has configured the computers to disallow several things that are technically illegal (obscure DOT lighting rules and winter-mode for TPMS).
Also consider that (in many states) it is illegal to put the car into neutral and coast down a hill.
It's not too much of a stretch to think that they MIGHT have programmed it to disallow shifting into neutral while the car is in motion... Or maybe they were REQUIRED (by DOT) to program it that way?
I've never driven a Lexus (any year) so it's just wild speculation on my part.
