I think there's a compromise between price and acceptable mileage. As a reformed car salesman it's quite common for a car to have been demo'd several times and have 20-30-50 miles on it. It's not uncommon for it to have up to 100 miles. Some cars are dealer traded and driven between dealers and can have several hundred miles. So it all depends.
I would never worry about the miles on a new car. The days of irresponsible car sales folks are long gone, too much at stake, hardly anybody but dealer principles get demos.
Once you put your money down and make a deal it should be kept under an an additional 10 miles for final testing and prep.
