I agree with the other posters. If you signed for it and all that was needed to complete the transaction was the "forgotten" check, then I would be a bit upset at the additional miles (5-10 would be completely acceptable for them to move the car around the lot, fill it with gas, clean it etc). But if you didn't sign anything, and told them you'd be back tomorrow, how could you possibly complain. After all, if the low miles were so important, why play the game of "forgetting the check"? Puh-leeze. How many times _in a day_ do you think they hear "I'll be back tomorrow"?
If it's that big of deal, ask for floor mats or another accessory to be thrown in. And then, and this point is the most important one, stop playing games, buy the car, and take possession of it. This is the only guarantee the dealer will stop driving it.
