I don't like the light that it's painted in. Just because we drive every day, we take the risks for granted - but driving IS VERY DANGEROUS! I actually kinda sorta like my life, and I would do as much as I could to avoid unnecessarily increasing my chance of death. (aside: think about Toyotas becoming the new vehicle of those rebels who laugh in the face of death - forget Harleys!) If that means driving a Saab instead of a Toyota, then so be it. (can you feel the sarcasm =D ?) It would be my cross to bear!! ;P
I'm awfully disappointed in the lack of supporting evidence. Statistics means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They will say whatever you want them to say. "Increase driving risk by only 2 percent" - what does that mean? What is "driving risk" defined as? And increased compared to what? Is he saying that driving a recalled Toyota is riskier than driving an old, beat-up VW Beetle? Or a brand-new Volvo? Does that imply that Volvos and VWs are equally safe? cause I don't think they are...
Why is walking riskier? I would think that walking would be healthier, and increase your life span!
The final comment I have is about the "death" risk - there's no mention of risk of *injuries* - you may not die from a Toyota recall, but what about the risk of being horribly mangled in a wreck, disabled, with brain damage, etc...?
