There are lots of people saying "print is dead." Well, it just looks that way because it doesn't move. All the new media is cool and I like it (and create some of it). But print will hold its own for a long while yet. Both have their place, and work together quite well.
As for the service writers/managers, they have to brace themselves for a new kind of more car savvy customer.
