Beam type torque wrenches are better than none at all, and better than others because you can tell if they are damaged. If a beam wrench is damaged, it will not indicate zero at zero torque. If the zero is offset, most likely that offset is affecting the entire torque range. How do you tell if a click type wrench has a offset at zero torque?
A mechanics feel is very subjective, they may get it close, but they are subject to over torqueing fasteners in aluminum.
