The techs in our R&D department use a more sophisticated bending beam torque wrench that eliminates parallax error. It has a dial readout, something like a dial indicator with an adjustable contact ring. They set the ring to the desired torque and when that torque is reached the indicator needle touches the ring contact and a lamp is illuminated. You can see the lamp from just about any angle. These are flat beam wrenches on which you can see where they have been ground to trim the calibration. Generally any sensor, including torque wrenches, should not be used in the lower quarter or third of their full scale range. That is why 2 or 3 torque wrenches of different ranges are needed for typical automotive work.
