I searched for ECONAR prior to my posting Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 15 Dec 2010 07:10:00 In Reply to: Re: Hydronic heating, shauno, Wed, 15 Dec 2010 05:54:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
ECONAR's web site identifies them as a manufacturer of residential nd commercial ground source heat pumps. Based on this I drew the conclusion the home in question has a heat pump system. This type of heat supplies heated or cooled forced air through ducts to temper the home temperature.
I suppose it is possible that ECONAR previously built hydronic heating systems. Hydronic heat is hot water that circulates thru radiators in the house. Great for even heat, lousy for humidity control, nearly impossible to provide cooling. If the home has both radiators and ducts then it likely has forced air cooling as well as a hydronic heating system.
The current cold snap affecting the entire east coast illustrates the need for supplemental heat to assist your heat pump. Often this is provided by a resistance electrical heating grid within the fan coil unit.
