Take a moment to evaluate Microsoft Sync Toy. I have used it for many years on XP, and Win 7 64bit. It's free....

Another backup idea is using Dropbox.....Probably not going to be used to back up 1TB worth of files, but still it is tremendously convenient. Works on all platforms....Win, Mac, and Linux. Free Version is 2GB.
