Hopefully Saab is listening to Saab enthusiasts and potential customers.
Trying to go up-market with one car line (9-5) in a company that (to be honest) has a questionable future just won't work. But as this thread has mentioned, going after some niches, especially competing with Subaru, makes a lot of sense.
Saab has to decide what it wants to be, and where it fits the market. Surely there are enough people on the planet who want something different than their neighbors, place a premium on the core Saab attributes of safety/comfort/performance/fuel economy/understated style/practicality.
I don't think Saabs need V6 engines. Turbo fours are just fine, and other carmakers are now offering those engines. As gas prices go up people will realize turbo fours make a lot of sense. Saab needs to educate the market and capitalize on its advantage in turbocharged cars.
