Not to pick nits, but the US economy remains 7X larger than the Chinese economy, and that's if you believe the Chinese government statistics regarding GDP. Having lived and worked in China for years, I can tell you that there is a lot of funny business that goes on with respect to information/data.
Also, for perspective, the Chinese economy was the world's largest for much of recorded history. This was a result of the sheer number of people living there. So when the day does arrive that their economy truly becomes #1, it should be no surprise.
Finally, American workers continue to be the most productive workforce in the world. The downside to that is that every year we need fewer workers to do the same amount of work. So when your economy is not growing as quickly, you get persistently higher levels of un- or under-employment - which is our situation today.
