Justin, ive done this job with several bathrooms. Sometimes it will come off very easily in large sheets. Other times it is a miserable experience of scraping off small pieces at a time.
I have used the solution that you apply to the wall and let it stand for a while. Before you apply the solution you must use a scoring roller that makes small punctures in the wallpaper. I have never had any issues with the scoring roller causing harm to the wallboard. A coat of primer covers any insignificant marks that might be in the wall board.
When that hasnt worked I have rented a small steamer which can be very effective.
I would at least attempt to do it myself before hiring the job out. Sometimes the job is alot easier than anticipated.
Also, for a two story job, I would rent scaffolding. Not expensive and it will make the job both easier and much much safer...Good Luck..keith.
