Anything that may have warranty implications goes to the Dealer, as do jobs where the car is already disabled and needs to be towed(i.e. fuel pump failed on the road).
I use my local Indy shop for other jobs which require use of a lift, impact tools, or when I've gotten half-way in and can't finish the job but can back out to a drivable vehicle. Examples of these are suspension component replacements, and the water pump on my 9-5 which had two banjo fittings that would not release even after more than an hour of soaking with PB Blast and wrenching.
