Here in Colorado people flock to buy Subaru's - even though IMO a lot of other makers have caught up with AWD and surpassed them on value.
When I moved to Pittsburgh I brought my 1986 9000T with me and had it for 4 yrs there and brought it back to Colorado. After a year in Pittsburgh I picked up a 1991 Ford Taurus SHO, also brought that back to Co so it was in Pittsburgh for 3 yrs. When working on both cars in Colorado bolts and components on the underside of the Ford would just snap right off - while the Saab never would.
I too was surprised at resale value of Hondas Toyotas and the like - but that is a somewhat recent happening and it contributed my decision to buy a new vehicle.
