c900 is smaller than 9-5 and drives significantly smaller. I like our 9-5, but the c900's are way more fun imho...
On any of these cars c900 or MGA, I would avoid doing any significant rust overhauls - really expensive. Of course the question is if it has already been done by someone else, how good was the job? look it over carefully, and I'd be more trusting of it if it was done a while ago and still looks good vs being brand new...
fwiw, SIS were all verts, and mostly turbo sticks. If it's been well cared for and rust free, that would be a better choice imho than a 2.1L NA with automatic, even if the white one is in mint condition with really low miles... unless you just plan to look at it... $9k is a lot to pay for a future tranny swap! It may be hard to verify that the '88 is a genuine SIS, but unless you are paying a huge premium for that, who cares, right? I'd mainly worry about body condition and tranny condition, and perhaps the top... the rest is all repairable!
good luck!
