My boss is buying a new car and asked my opinion about the the new Fusion. There is not a V6 available anymore. The base engine is a 2.5 I4 and the other optional engines are Turbocharged. Does anyone else think that putting a turbocharged engine in a car for the masses is a mistake? I think Ford uses a Borg Warner Turbo which I am generally familiar (as a manufacture) with as they have made turbos for Porsche too. My only exposure to Fords with turbos were the 87 Thurnderbird and 89 Probe GT. I didn't think either were astounding, but haven't been able to find any info that they were complete lemons either. I think there is a huge potential for people to sour on the brand from a likely bad turbo experience. Like some have soured regarding SAABs and their experience with the GARRETT turbos. I know there is some litigation already regarding Ford v6 ecoboost engines.
