I was talking a ride a few weeks back up Lookout Mtn in Golden CO - some of you may have been up there - Buffalo Bills grave and all. Chain started to slip, after ride inspection shows gear teeth and indeed long in the tooth - worn badly. It's an 24 speed or 8 gear rings cassette

So I used to buy Forte at the nearby by performance bike shop but they quit several yrs back and my last purchase was a shimano - however it's now a special order because according the clerk "no one rides with 24 speeds anymore "

So my question is does anybody care to recommend an online bike vendor they have had good experience with and also how many teeth should I be buying - the 12/23 or whatever those numbers represent. It's a road bike and usually I'm riding in the 2nd 3rd or 4th higest gogs on the wheel.

thanks for any inputs - and anyone still riding with 8 speed cassette ? I don't care for the chain prices of the 10 and 11 setups and my bike can't handle more than 8 anyways.
