Yeah, Saabs and Kleins... both purchased by large companies and eventually put out of business because the large company couldn't maintain the passion that the original brand fed off of.
Seinfeld did have a Klein hanging in his apartment for much of the series.
The frames up to 2002 (after which they were built in Wisconsin along side the Treks) are, indeed, works of art. (Even the post-Trek Kleins are still breathtaking, but not to the same standard.)
Klein was the first guy to make an aluminum frame a rideable reality... that's a concept that has been around for a while now. Kinda like Turbo-charged cars, huh?
My '02 Quantum is "Plum Crazy" In most light, it is a "purple" bike... but it also appears to be truly copper metallic if viewed from behind. I *almost* hate riding it, just because I don't want to chip it. I guess the same goes for the SPG!
