Well back in 2007 I bought a Hyundai Elantra for my daughter - it's been a great car, I've only had to replace the front sway bar links. It's a little rough around the edges with respect to cabin noise and suspension - but overall a reasonably priced dependable appliance type auto.
Then I bought a Hyundai Sante Fe to replace one of my Saabs - a 1999 9-5. It's a 2.0T AWD turbo and it's been reliable and is nicely equipped but nothing really special when compared to some other CUVs - but they cost more.
What puzzles is me is how many Canadians buy Hyundai's and on the Sante Fe BB many talk of how they buy rustproofing packages and some reapply oil on an annual basis. If I lived in a high humidity extensive road salt climate I'd buy something else. But many are repeat buyers and a good many claim to have gotten a lot of trouble free miles out of their previous generation Sante Fes.
