What did it have in queue before the install? a p.c. is programed to search the net for anything better than what its got currently using as an operating sys. XP users are very Vulnerable because its been around a long time and hackers had a chance to read its code back and forth its up to the user to approve or disapprove its download, as a xp user I thought you were sophisticated in the areas of XP`s vulnerabilities. Fyi if you intend to use XP get a Genuine xp cd, (not an upgrade version) XP is awesome but its up to the user. Like a Saab do you want to know how the Saab runs or take it to a indie to get it fixed.
Having the p.c. place something in queue is the same as downloading it. so in hindsight your p.c. downloaded something and waited for you to approve it for install.
What ever it was its the malfunction to your p.c. and you shouldn't make the same mistake. because the new p.c. will down load it and place the same mistake in queue again if the new operating sys is XP.
Seems like you're settings allow your p.c. to download anything it finds but holds it until your approval for install, I would block that option to don't download anything until your approval for download and install. it in the settings.
The p.c. is like a child it just needs to be taught on what and how to think and act. if you dont teach it hows it suppose to know something is harmful to its operation.
Having the tec install a brand new operating sys is like saying you want a new kid's mind which you will need to teach all over again. on how to act when things pop up. My xp sys is so sensitive it monitors how programs use its memory and if any program uses more memory than its suppose to the p.c. blocks it and runs to me for confirmation. xp windows is a great system if the owner knows how to run it. Vista & windows 7 are nothing more than a system security fortresses for unwitting users that cant teach the p.c. as in vista = XP service pac 4, win 7 is more security, win 8 is just stupid
If your a xp user you will have some conflictions with programs if you update to service pac 3 but one needs to for wireless uplink and complete allure immunity. There are many allure viruses that can infect a xp p.c. the one with fido is only 1 that I speak of.
For you to take your p.c. to the tec and do what hes going to do is a unnecessary memory wipe, would you take your kid to the doc. for the same procedure.. it the same thing.. I dont know what new operating sys hes going to install but I`ll say this, to get an allure virus you need to confirm a download just before the p.c. is infected ' unless its on auto update and install
For instance. this is how subtle the hackers are, my p.c. found abode 10.5 update for my visual effects which at the time I was running 10.0 so of course I approved it. come to find out there is no such thing as 10.5 and it was the allure virus. So me as an unwittingly user approved its download and its install.
Wild game that was.. I hope no unsuspecting user does what I did. however I found a new respect for the hackers who wrote such an elegant virus. I mean for real, I come across a lot of wimpy viruses in my time but (( wow )) there are many different allure viruses this one I`m speaking of with the 5 implants correct name escapes my memory its allure xxxxxx (something) hats off to whoever wrote it.
But in a more personal note, it pains me you have a tec doing a memory wipe on your p.c. when it's unnecessary
