Yeah, that 472 was pretty choked down....the 62 was just a 390 -- but the 63 was bored, and the heads done, like a hot rod engine. Lots of advance and it was ready to go. The vert top would almost bubble up over a 100 and look like a bowler hat.
And yes, the brakes were good for one big push. I was heading into Vegas from I-15 at over 100 and a guy pulled out in front of me....I put on the brakes hard, and it was able to avoid the knucklehead, but the brakes were never the same until we put new liners in them.
Now the 69 vert was also a beast and had front discs. It had some humongous engine, maybe a 472 that all the intake restrictions were taken off, and it ran with the wind. It was my favorite of all, but no foot dimmer switch....just the photo electric cell.
Yup, wish I had that whole fleet of verts. We had a 62 and 68 fleetwoods that I would let go, but I'd be glad to take a ride in that black 67 :-)
