Not sure on the van thing. I think that is true for some people. I was really underwhelmed by the Toyota Sienna driving experience. Honda might be better. I think the only good reason to own one of these is if you wanted to haul a lot of plywood or drywall and live in an area where there is a lot of precipitation (a van is much better than a pickup in that situation). The full size minivans give that extra functionality of hauling really big stuff easily. Kids, well, not so big of a deal so long as you don't have more than 2 or 3. I've hauled 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids) in a c900 with 3 car seats/boosters and all their ski equipment, and it was perfectly comfortable and a whole lot more fun to drive than a van. I do have a ski box on the roof and I have the right car seats/boosters to do fit everything properly...
But I do get the appeal of vans, particularly for those really not too enthusiastic about driving in the first place... there is a lot of utility.
