Since you wanted to know what we did for our twins rear facing I thought I'd post an update. Made the first trip with the twins this afternoon without the infant seats. Kearra was 30" tall and 20 lbs a couple weeks ago and Sofie was 29.5" and 18 lbs so it is time to retire the Cybex Aton's which have a height limit of 30"
We have the Diono Rainier with angle adjuster in the middle and a Combi Coccoro behind the passenger. The drivers seat is only a hair forward of all the way back, and maybe a little further back than I was able to have it with the Aton behind me. There was lots of room in front of the Coccoro. The only drawback to the Coccoro is 36" height and 33 lb limit for the rear facing. If the girls stay on their 50% growth percentage this will get them to 30 months.
The wife said she was going to decapitate Kearra with the seat belt when she took her out so I need switch it over to LATCH.
