No surprise. Really it was all over when Muller had to declare bankruptcy.
Saab AB had their name dragged through the mud due to the money problems of Saab Cars' new owners. From what I've read this was affecting the brand perception of their core business (defense technology) since people who should have known better did not realize the defense company and car company were separate entities. Competitors of course did nothing to correct that perception.
Saab AB won't be eager to lease the name again to another underfunded and/or inexperienced outfit that wants to break into the car business.
The Saab name might be back someday on some kind of car but I don't expect to live to see it. (Borgward is back but that took over 50 years!)
