I have a 2004 9-5... but my point was not about ## of sales, but more about design direction... even the ng9-3 while a good car, was confused in terms of design language, body types etc for what was traditionally SAAB. Loss of the hatch in the 9-3 might be one of the biggest things that ultimately lead to the downfall, even if the sedan sold very well! Different buyers I think - a shift from the original core support to a value oriented consumer vs audi/bmw, who left as quickly as they came... or at least that is my interpretation of what I saw... probably a mix in reality.
