Having a second car up there is part of the process, and is sorta in the works. I'll probably get a used pickup truck.
Our house is 2 hours from the airport (Halifax) and we'd likely be taking enough stuff with us each trip so flights aren't practical. Plus, Halifax is very expensive to fly in and out of. A 2-day drive is no biggie, as we have free lodging halfway. We have friends who go to NS for 6 months (May-Nov), have a house 1/4 mile from ours, and live in Taos the rest of the year. They do the drive and have a car up there, but their daughter, her husband and grandkid live in Halifax area. Makes it easier for them, and gives them a free ride to their house. At our house in NS we are 20-30 miles from any stores, so an extra car up there is pretty useful.
