I don't think GM’s motivation to acquire Saab had much to do with this like ABS technology. Saab's late 1980s/early 90s ABS had been co-developed by the Alfred Teves (ATE) company which is the same company GM had been using for development of their own early ABS. Also, going forward I believe GM partnered mostly or entirely with Bosch for their ABS anyway.

I think GM saw Saab as a way to expand their portfolio and attempt to go after luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz as well as expand their presence and production capacity in Europe. Here at home, Saab would give GM a brand to attract younger import buyers in a way Cadillac wasn't able to.
