My family's fleet of cars consists of a 10-year old Nissan, a 15-year old BMW, two 20-year old Subarus, and a 31-year old Saab. All of these vehicles look great inside and out, operate perfectly, and are extremely economical in maintenance as well as property taxes (virtually none). I imagine they could all be driven indefinitly (well, maybe not the BMW - I hate that car).

I look at hybrids and wonder how many of them can efficiently be driven beyond 10 years. The fact that lithium ion batteries only have a limited number of recharges in them indicates one day they will essentially be used up and nobody is going to drop thousands for new batteries. We seem to be creating disposable vehicles (more so than where we are currently at).

I doubt I will ever (willingly) own an EV either.
