I was not saying that he has or has not heard of Mills. I was simply indicating that his presentation did not mention Mills or hydrinos. I would point out though that Lee Smolin has expressed views as in the talk you linked to going back many years prior, and that this is not something new that has come up in the last year. I have linked to his PI page below for the reader to refer to as the context is relevant.
I am not a theoretical physicist. I have an advanced background in applied physics and I have designed products that operate based on quantum mechanical principles. Whether or not the conventional understanding of QM is optimal in all esoteric regimes, it does work really well for many things.
I do have an open mind and I would be keen to see some compelling evidence that Mill's ideas work. I can see that he has published large volumes of text (on a range of subjects including cancer therapies). That said, if there was actually something compelling to his hydrino theory, I would think the scientific community would be excited to reproduce the findings as it would change everything about how we see the world. That said, the superficial look at his work I have taken definitely raises some serious questions for me, but I don't have the time to delve deeply into his many papers to critically review them (a massive volume of work), so I will refrain from commenting further.
