the FAA would not normally have any say in what goes on in a T-Hangar. That would almost certainly be the airport operator which is typically the local municipality. And they are not shy about expressing it. Many times for good reasons. The big fear in those long rows of connected hangars is fire. So, they tend to be a bit picky about any activity that might be a fire risk.
FYI, there are a few grass fields that receive FAA funding. Bayport Aerodrome near me is one.
It operates as an extension of the very close by Islip (ISP) airport.
