ok, heres the deal...
My father, who has ALWAYS driven a toyota corolla (he buys a new one about every 10 years or 150,000 miles) is looking for a new car, and due to my mother's constant complaints about the lack of comfort in the toyotas hes looking to possibly buy something different, a little more upscale. Mom and dad take frequent road trips in his car. They asked for my advice, and now im passing the buck along...
Dad wants:
best possible gas mileage
best possible reliability
manual trans.
Mom wants:
comfort, comfort, comfort
safety
I was thinking that its a shame that VW doesnt sell a TDI Passat in the US.
Dad would be open to the new 9-3, but will be pissed as hell if its not that reliable. (I want him to get one so that I can drive it!) 9-5 is another possibility, but at the very high end of what they are willing to spend.
Dad hates Volvo's (yay!!)
short list: Camry, Passat, Accord, maxima, 9-3, 9-5
I dont drive many new cars... Any advice on some kind of good compromise, pros and cons etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Josh
