Did you do the tranny yourself? I'm assuming you didn't if you get your oil changed at Jiffy lube. Perhaps your mechanic is covering his ass by passing the buck to the oil-tech.

IMHO, I'd say it would be much easier to botch a transmission job than an oil change. Really, its pretty hard to mistake a transmission for an oil pan, and the smell of the tranny oil when it drained should have tipped the guy off that it wasn't engine oil he was draining.

Do you have conclusive evidence that the failure was due to a lack of lubrication? Was it a brand new transmission, or did your guy rebuild it (leaving much more room for a screw up- transmissions are fussy things).
Is there somewhere you can get a second opinion on the transmission failure? Perhaps you're going after the wrong guy.
