I've used both. The Green Egg is excellent, but the "red" Kamado (which is the original earthenware "cooker") is superior. The ceramic material is a much better insulator than the Green Egg, so you use less fuel and everything cooks more evenly. I use them when it's below freezing out, and the Kamado's shell stays cold, whereas the Green Eggshell is too hot to touch. Check out their web site, below.
