Right on Dave,
Last summer, after my gas grill died, I used my housemate's classic Weber Kettle with natural hardwood charcoal lumps, with one or two "match light" briquettes to get it going. It took time and attention to light, but cooked longer with less wood. Far better taste too, no late night diesel fuel burps. That said, gas is my first chioce; its fast, easy to control and consistent. Charcoal is nice for meats and chicken, but I found seafood comes out consistently lousy.
